Most storefront work is done from a bucket truck or a boom lift, which is also why a lot of it happens at night or early morning when a lot or a mall concourse is empty.
Because the same shop builds and hangs the sign, the crew on site already knows how the sign was made and what is behind the face.
A sign that has gone dark is usually a power supply, a run of failed LED modules, or water where it should not be. All three are repairable. Older signs running fluorescent lamps or aging LEDs can be retrofitted to current modules, which is normally cheaper than replacement and cuts what the sign draws.
Cracked and faded faces, storm damage, and vehicle strikes are all common. Faces can be reprinted or re-routed to the original artwork.
When a space changes hands, the existing cabinet or raceway is often reusable. Swapping faces and letters onto sound existing structure is the fastest and least expensive way to open under a new name.
